The World Urban Games (WUG) is the ultimate celebration of new-generation sports forged by the spirit of youth. It is a showcase for the skill, style and power of the most inspirational urban athletes on the planet. The World Urban Games comprises a wide-ranging programme of competitive and showcase urban sports complimented by a Festival of youth-focused music, art and culture.

The official programme for the first World Urban Games in Budapest 2019 has been unveiled.

The Games, powered by GAISF (Global Association of International Sport Federations), will take place from 12-15 September and feature competition and showcase sports.

The opening day’s competition schedule will feature women’s BMX freestyle qualification in the morning, with the men’s qualification in the afternoon, as well as 3×3 basketball group games and qualification competitions for roller freestyle, parkour, breaking and flying disc freestyle.

The Games will feature the following sports and include two showcase sports, Laser Run and Indoor Rowing

  • BMX freestyle
  • Roller freestyle
  • Breaking
  • 3×3 Basketball
  • Parkour
  • Flying Disc

One of the aims of the World Urban Games is to take urban sports to a new dimension and inspire a new generation of athletes around the world by creating a complete festival of urban culture, dance, music and sport.

GAISF President Raffaele Chiulli said, “One of the pillars of GAISF is to create multi-sport events which act as a launch platform for new sports disciplines, and we are seeing this vision realised in Budapest.

“With just one month to go, we have a dynamic and exciting sports programme and I am very much looking forward to seeing the Games come to life.

This accomplishment is one that has been many years in the making, and I would like to congratulate the Local Organising Committee and the GAISF team for their hard work in making this dream a reality.”
