Russia launches massive attack with 44 missiles and 659 drones against Ukraine, killing at least 16 people


The Russian Army launched a massive attack against kyiv and other towns in Ukraine during the early hours of the morning, killing at least 16 people, including a twelve-year-old child. The Ukrainian Air Force has detailed that Vladimir Putin’s troops have attacked different parts of the country with 44 missiles and 659 identified drones in the last 24 hours.

According to Ukrainian authorities, at least 4 people have died in kyiv, 8 in Odessa, 3 in Dnipro and 1 in Zaporizhzhia. In addition, emergency services have had to treat nearly a hundred injured people. Foreign Minister Andrí Sibiga has described the attacks as a “war crime” and has urged the international community to impose more sanctions on Russia.

The mayor of kyiv, Vitali Klitchkó, ​​explained that a Russian drone hit an 18-story residential building. Nearly fifty people have been injured in the capital. Photos and videos shared on social networks show several fires out of control and columns of smoke rising in different parts of the city.

Klitchkó detailed that emergency teams managed to rescue a mother and her son who had been trapped under the rubble of their house.

Eight people have been killed in the Black Sea port of Odessa, according to the city’s military administrator, Sergei Lisak, and another eleven individuals have been injured by attacks in the port city. In the city of Dnipro, in east-central Ukraine, three people lost their lives, according to the regional governor, Oleksandr Ganzha, who added that the offensive also left 27 injured.

The Russian attacks have developed in several rounds at a less usual time: during the morning and afternoon and continued into the early hours of Thursday with new salvos of drones and missiles directed against some of the main urban centers in the rear. The Ukrainian Air Force has confirmed that 12 missiles and 20 drones hit 26 locations.

During the night, kyiv also attacked Russian territory. According to the governor of the Krasnodar region, several Ukrainian drones directed against the port of Tuapse, on the Black Sea, have killed two children and started a major fire, without specifying further details. The town is an important export center for petroleum products and is home to a refinery.
