Learn about the key trends and challenges shaping the sport and recreation industry and update your knowledge in key club management topics with this exciting two day conference program. Discover the opportunities to plan, prepare and perform in the years ahead as industry experts share their insights and learn important skills to deliver quality sports and recreation opportunities for your members.

Sport and recreation plays an important role in the health and wellbeing of Queenslanders and in building social and inclusive communities. The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games will showcase Queensland’s diverse and vibrant sport and recreation industry but the legacy of the Games will not stop there. The Queensland Government is also investing in the future of sport for Queenslanders through their support of the Sport and Recreation Conference series delivered by Sport and Recreation Services.

Program
The Sport and Recreation Conference will focus on key local issues to help build your organisational capacity, inspire new ideas and help you take on challenges in the changing world of sport and recreation. The conference will also feature trade displays and provide networking opportunities for participants.

Day 1

Presented by industry experts, day one will focus on industry trends and best practice models in sport and recreation across four key topics:

Plan – mapping the future of sport and recreation

People – connecting with members, community, players and volunteers

Prepare – it’s more than just a game

Perform –  the rise in recreation

Perform – a new way to play

Through Building Active Community Workshops, day two provides training opportunities within two critical organisational development fields:

Governance – the role of the Board and board members

Governance – financial management, analysing financial reports and budgets

Facility management – maintenance planning and management
