National Volunteer Week
Give Happy, Live Happy
Established in 1989, National Volunteer Week (NVW) is the largest celebration of volunteers and volunteerism in Australia. It provides an opportunity to highlight the role of volunteers in society and say thank you to all Australian volunteers.
From 8-14 May 2017, a wide range of volunteer recognition events, celebrations, awards ceremonies, thank you morning teas, parades, professional development sessions, forums, and more, will be held nationwide.
“Not only are volunteers helping make the lives of everyone around them happier, they too are happier as a result. Research tells us that just a few hours of volunteer work makes a difference in people’s happiness. It’s proven that volunteers are happier, healthier and even sleep better than those who don’t volunteer.”
Mark your calendar! We encourage all volunteers, managers of volunteers, leaders, nonprofits, community groups, organisations, academia and government to take part in the week.
Volunteering Queensland will support NVW by holding the Queensland Volunteering Awards 2017.
These prestigious awards acknowledge the endeavours of inspiring Queenslanders who promote the spirit of volunteerism. They pay tribute to their compassion, commitment, hard work and the positive impact they contribute to communities.
If you know a volunteer, manager of volunteers, volunteer program or employee volunteering program that deserves recognition, nominate them today!
