It is a day when all Australians can get out on the water for a fish and celebrate our love of fishing.

For some it’s a sport, for some it’s a leisure activity, for others it’s a pastime and a way of life.

For all of us who fish it’s a chance to connect with nature and Australia’s unique marine and riverine environments and leave your troubles behind.

So isn’t it time we celebrated our greatest outdoor activity with a national day dedicated to recreational fishing?

National Gone Fishing Day will bring together all those aspects that make recreational fishing so popular – on one day for all Australians to enjoy. 

   

It doesn’t matter if you haven’t fished before, Gone Fishing Day is for everyone. You can take part in one of the many events scheduled around Australia or simply grab the family, take a mate or just take time out for yourself and enjoy a day of fishing.
