UPDATE – Some Queensland national parks are reopening

Further updated information (QPWS)

Posted on 30.04.2020

We would like to provide further updated information to you regarding the status of Queensland’s national parks and State forests.

As part of the Queensland Government’s ongoing response to COVID-19, some national parks and State forests will reopen to visitors from 11.59pm Friday 1 May.

Access is available to local walk-ins and local vehicles limited to site car park capacities only. Local recreational access is defined by the Chief Health Officer, as a travel radius from residence of 50km.

Camping areas, barbeques and some rock pools and swimming areas will remain closed for public safety.

Check the full and current list of closures on Park Alerts before you visit.

It is also important to check all roadside and on site signage. Please observe all notices, social distancing measures, maximum allowable numbers and all other health directions.

We understand some park and forest users may be disappointed that their recreational access may still be impacted, but we ask for people to respect and support rangers while they work in monitoring the closures still in place within parks and forests in the interests of community safety.

Please do not attempt to visit any areas still closed within national parks, State forests or recreation areas, unless authorised, for your own safety and protection, and that of the community.

Compliance with the closure will be monitored and penalties may apply for non-compliance.

Thank you for your support and cooperation during this time.

Handy Hint

From 2 May, we will be able to drive up to a 50km radius from our homes.
