Towards an all abilities Queensland

Towards an all abilities Queensland

Have your say!

Posted on 20.12.2016

We are developing a new state disability plan for an all abilities Queensland. The plan will help build a society which enables people with disability to fulfil their potential as equal citizens and live the life they choose.

We want to work with people with disability, their families and carers, businesses, organisations, local and commonwealth governments and the community to identify practical actions to make change happen.

Consultation paper

A consultation paper Towards an all abilities Queensland outlines a proposed vision and priority areas for a new disability plan – with Queenslanders with disability, their families and carers at the centre.

“I want to be accepted for who I am.”

Proposed vision: Queenslanders of all abilities can live the life they choose.

Proposed priority areas:

  1. Personal and community relationships
  2. Recreation and tourism
  3. Working and learning
  4. Key services
  5. Leadership and contribution

The paper discusses these priorities and includes questions to prompt submissions on how we can make Queensland even more inclusive and responsive to people with disability. You can respond to all the questions, or only the ones that interest you.

How to share your ideas

“Sharing, friendship, connecting, get togethers, accepting, being open are important to me.”

We want to hear views from all areas of the community:

  • people with disability, their families, friends and carers
  • service providers
  • local governments
  • businesses
  • community organisations
  • all other members of the community.

You can make a submission via

Email us or phone 13 QGOV (13 74 68) to discuss a different way of submitting a response.

Submissions close Friday 10 February 2017.
