AirDrop on Android comes to the Oppo Find X9: share files directly with iPhone

OPPO confirmed that the Find X9 series will integrate compatibility between Quick Share of Android and Apple transfer system, AirDrop. It’s a practical step that reduces cross-platform friction and makes it easier to send files between Android phones and iOS devices without installing additional apps.

What does the novelty imply?

According to the company, the feature will arrive via an update starting in March and was implemented in direct collaboration with Google and MediaTek. OPPO indicates that the tool will allow “convenient and secure” transfers between its phones and devices with iOS, iPadOS and macOS, without going through third-party software.

The measure is not just a convenience for individual users: it opens the door to more fluid communication in mixed environments (offices, families with different ecosystems, educational centers) and reduces technical steps to share large files or high-resolution photos.

Brief tour: how we got here

Months ago Google began to adapt Quick Share to be compatible with AirDropstarting with their own Pixel. The company then expanded the plan so that more Android manufacturers can integrate the solution.

Manufacturers like Samsung have already announced that they would bring compatibility to recent models, and now OPPO is joining in with the Find X9. The trend points to greater interoperability practical between iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android devices.

Availability and affected devices

Manufacturer/Model State Deployment period
Google Pixel 10 Compatible Initial implementation (they already received the feature)
Google Pixel 9 Compatible Later update (2024)
Samsung Galaxy S26 Announced Confirmed by Samsung
OPPO Find X9 Upcoming compatibility Update from March

Exact deployment may vary by country and operator. OPPO has not yet released a full list of regions or a batch schedule; The company talks about a start of distribution since March.

What the user should know

There will be no need to install additional applications to take advantage of the new compatibility: integration is done at the operating system and hardware level where applicable. For users with Apple devices, the experience should be similar to usual when sharing with other iPhones or Macs.

  • Common requirement: updating the operating system of the receiving device.
  • Bluetooth/Wi-Fi connection is usually required for discovery and transfer.
  • Functionality may be subject to privacy and permissions settings at time of first transfer.

OPPO claims that the transfers maintain security mechanisms; However, the company has not publicly detailed all the technical nuances regarding encryption or size limits on each file type.

The arrival of this compatibility adds pressure on manufacturers to prioritize cross-platform experiences. For the end user it means fewer barriers when sharing content between different devices and a more integrated experience, especially in contexts where iOS and Android devices coexist.
