Strategy for Social Infrastructure

Focusing on Culture & Recreation, Health, Education & Training, Justice & Public Safety and Social Housing

Posted on 13.01.2017

Investment in state social infrastructure is essential for the health, wellbeing and economic prosperity of our communities. Well-functioning state social infrastructure will make our cities and regions more attractive places to invest, work, live and play.

The needs of Queensland’s population determine the character of our social infrastructure. The emergence of an aging population in some areas of the state and the establishment of new, younger communities influence the type of social infrastructure that will be provided in those areas. Social infrastructure supports the delivery of human social services.

The Queensland Government have started the engagement process for developing a social infrastructure strategy focusing on Culture and Recreation, Health, Education and Training, Justice and Public Safety and Social Housing.  The consultation questions are targeting feedback around collaboration and partnerships, innovative approaches to funding and delivery, innovative approaches to responding and adapting to the community, social infrastructure planning and design, and operations and maintenance.

The government want to engage with key stakeholder to draw on their expertise and experience to inform development of this strategy.
