Donald Trumpassured this Wednesday in a message in Truth Social that the “president of the new regime” of Iran, “much less radical and much more intelligent than his predecessors”, has requested a ceasefire to the United States.
However, he rejected the offer: “We will consider it when the Strait of Hormuz is open, free and clear. Until then, we will continue bombing Iran to annihilation or, as they say, back to the Stone Age.”
Despite the Republican once again setting the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz as a condition for a ceasefire, the Iranian authorities have indicated this Wednesday that The United States “will not regain access to the strategic maritime enclave”which “only those who comply with the terms imposed by Iran will be able to cross.”

Trump’s message in Truth Social.
“The strait will reopen, clearly, but not for them; will be open to those who comply with Iran’s new laws,” said the head of the Security Commission of the Iranian Parliament, Ebrahim Azizi, in a message on social networks.
In the same sense, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard responded to Trump that The Strait of Hormuz will remain closed to the “enemies of this nation.” In a statement broadcast on state television, the Revolutionary Guard affirms that the strait is “firmly and dominantly” under the control of its naval forces.
The Republican does not clarify what new Iranian leader would have made such an offer. The president of the Persian nation, Masud Pezeshkian – who on Tuesday revealed that the Islamic Republic has the “necessary will” to end the war, but only if Tehran receives “solid guarantees” that the aggression will not be repeated – was already in office before the start of the US and Israeli operation against Tehran.
In recent weeks there has also been speculation about the possibility that Washington’s interlocutor could be the president of the Iranian Parliament, Mohamed Baqer Alibaf, hypothesis that he himself has denied and that would not fit with the description made today by Trump as the “president of the new regime” of Iran.
Although Trump now conditions the ceasefire on opening of the Strait of Hormuz, In recent days he has released different messages making it clear that that was not a key issue for the US.
In fact, on Tuesday the Republican asked allies who have refused to participate in his military offensive against Iran to act with “courage” and “take” the crucial maritime passage: “The most complicated thing has already been done. “Go get your oil.”he indicated in Truth Social.
Hours later, in an interview with the ‘New York Post’, the president stated that Washington will not be fighting Iran “much longer” and trusted that The Strait of Hormuz will reopen “automatically” after the US withdrawal.
From the beginning of the call Operation Epic Fury, Iran has closed this route with attacks on oil tankers and has only allowed some tankers to pass near its coasts as a tactic to exert global economic pressure during the conflict.
The crucial maritime passage has remained closed to international traffic despite the two ultimatums issued by Trump to demand its reopening: the first, issued on March 15, in which it gave Tehran 72 hours to restore navigation, and the second, on March 25, when it set a new deadline of 48 hours that also expired without effect.
