Its leaders walk through the streets of Tehran under the bombs

The Iranian regime has chosen this Friday, March 13, the day of the Al Quds holiday, to hold a show of force. Pese a threats from the US and Israel to continue executing leaders of the Islamic Republic, several of them joined the massive demonstrations in the streets of Tehran.

Shortly before the explosion, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had warned that it was going to attack military infrastructure in two areas of the Iranian capital. The area of Maniriyehnear the University of Tehran where the march was taking place, was among the affected areas, so they asked civilians to evacuate the area.

Despite the warning, protesters took to the streets to celebrate. Established in 1979 by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini to call for the liberation of Palestine and the fall of Israel, this ‘Jerusalem Day‘ is commemorated every year on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan. It was one of the few festivities attended publicly by Mojtada Khamenei, the new supreme leader.

Larijani was in the audience even though he is among the targets designated as “legitimate” by Israel. “Donald Trump does not have the intelligence to realize that The people of Iran are a mature, strong and determined people“, he declared in videos shared on social networks.

“The greater the pressure from the United States, the greater the determination of the people,” he continued from the heart of the demonstration. “The attacks of the Zionist regime against the march route demonstrate its despair“he added.

The president of Iran was also seen on the streets of Tehran, Masud Pezeshkian; to the Iranian foreign minister, Abás Araqchi; to the commander in chief of the Police, Ahmad Reza Radan; and the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Mohamed Eslamiamong other senior officials.

Marches were held in dozens more cities in response to the new supreme leader’s call to participate in demonstrations. Mojtaba Jamanei, however, communicated with a written message that was read on television. He has yet to appear before the nation in person after succeeding his father.

On Wednesday morning there was another attack in the capital, and in the evening there were Israeli and American attacks in at least 11 Iranian cities. Those impacted include Isfahan and Arak in the center of the country, Qom and Karajin the north, Tabriz in the northwest, and Ahvaz and Dezful in the west.

Today marks two weeks since the start of the war launched by the United States and Israel against Iran, which has been bombed daily since then and has responded with attacks on American and energy facilities in the region, and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
