A shooting outside the Israeli consulate in Istanbul leaves two attackers dead and several police officers injured

Two of the attackers were reportedly killed in the exchange of fire with the police guarding the Israeli diplomatic headquarters.

At least two attackers have been killed and a third has been seriously injured after a major shooting in front of the Israeli consulate in Istanbul. After at least 10 minutes of confrontations, the Police were able to neutralize the aggressors.

Images obtained by various media show the agents drawing their weapons and taking cover around the building in which the Israeli consulate is located. At least two police officers were reportedly injured in the shooting.

As diplomatic sources explained to the Reuters agency, there was no Israeli representative in the building, and there are no Israeli diplomats currently stationed in Türkiye.

Since the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza began in 2023, Turkish authorities have maintained a strong police presence in the area cordoned off by the Israeli consulate.
