Registrations are open for women leaders and business owners to access financial education and support programs to help their business to succeed, thanks to the Palaszczuk Government’s Advancing Women in Business initiative.

Minister for Employment and Small Business Shannon Fentiman announced the latest series of seminars and conversation workshops to support women to excel in business.

“The Palaszczuk Government has partnered with University of the Sunshine Coast to deliver the Wealth Series that runs from now until October on the Sunshine Coast,” Ms Fentiman said.

“It’s our plan to give women the tools, support and skills they need to grow and ultimately lead and succeed, in their own organisations.”

“The Wealth Series is a combination of conversations and seminars designed to increase and empower women’s financial capabilities.”

Tami Harriott, Manager International Development, University of Sunshine Coast, said “Based on best practice and peer to peer mentoring models, the program will deliver information sharing meet-ups, facilitated by industry professionals.

“The program aims to expand women’s business capability, particularly in the crucial area of finance.”

“Each month we will host monthly meet-ups at different locations on the Sunshine Coast and participants can attend one or attend all.

“This series of events will bring the best and brightest to help women succeed in business.”

Ms Fentiman said this partnership is part of the Queensland Government’s Advancing Women in Business initiative, under the $22.7 million Advancing Small Business Queensland Strategy 2016-20.

“Women make a very valuable contribution to our economy and now make up more than a third of Queensland’s small business owners,” Ms Fentiman said.

“The Palaszczuk Government is investing in women through the Advance Queensland Initiative to help them start and grow small businesses, and most importantly to employ more Queenslanders.”

Since October 2017, the Office of Small Business has provided grants to 376 women business operators, totalling $1,658,526.
