Commercial Vessel Safety Consultation

Cost recovery for services under the National System for Domestic Commercial Vessel Safety

Posted on 15.08.2016

As a member of the domestic commercial vessel industry, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) invites you to take part in consultation on the proposed models and costs associated with AMSA delivering services to industry under the National System for Domestic Commercial Vessel Safety (the National System).

The cost recovery will be through a levy and fees for services. AMSA is proposing two different models for the introduction of a levy.

The proposed implementation date for a levy and fees for services is 1 July 2017, to coincide with when AMSA commences full service delivery under the National System.

AMSA invites you to provide your feedback on the fees for services and the proposed levy models between now and 10 October 2016.

Your response through the consultation process will provide valuable information that will help government decision makers implement the most relevant cost-recovery system.

The consultation opens Monday 15 August 2016 on the Consultation page of the AMSA website where you will also find information about the consultation process, the cost-recovery system and how you can have your say.
