Better boat ramp for Bramston Beach

Better boat ramp for Bramston Beach

Part of the Palaszczuk Government’s ongoing investment in marine infrastructure across Queensland.

A picturesque Far North beach town will soon score a better boat ramp as part of the Palaszczuk Government’s ongoing investment in marine infrastructure across Queensland.

The Bramston Beach boat ramp is set to be relocated to a new site about 45 metres downstream, improving access for boaties.

Design planning will get underway next month, followed by consultation with local ramp users and the town’s progress association, before details are finalised and tenders are called.

Importantly, boaties won’t have to sacrifice any time on the water, with the existing boat ramp to remain open until the new one is commissioned.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said the new location would provide greater tidal access and improve safety for all boaties using the facility.

“Local boaties will benefit with improved access to Joyce Creek with the new single-lane boat ramp able to extend out further into the creek than the current location allows,” he said.

Mr Bailey said planning was now underway thanks to funding from the Marine Infrastructure Fund (MIF), which the Palaszczuk Government committed to boosting by a further $30 million in the lead up to the last election.

The MIF is statewide, and is designed to improve marine infrastructure for boaties around Queensland.

“Another win for boaties is the existing ramp at Bramston Beach will remain open while the works are being completed at the new location,” Mr Bailey said.

“Tenders are expected to be called in mid 2018 and the works are expected to be done in the 2018-19 financial year.”

Locals will be kept up to date on the project with monthly updates at:
