Dragon Boat Championships 2018

Dragon Boat Queensland to host 2018 Australian Championships at Lake Kawana

Posted on 07.12.2017

The Australian Dragon Boat Championships (AusChamps) is Australia’s premier Dragon Boating event in which clubs from all states compete against one another for the title of National Champion.

Thousands of competitors from around Australia will compete at the Sunshine State in the lead up to the Commonwealth Games.

The opportunity to compete at the highest level is important to the development of our sport in Australia. National titles are always tough and uncompromising and the 2018 Australian Championships promises first class racing.

Similarly, State pride is on the line as Australia’s top crews fight it out on State v State day to win the title of the best state in Australia.

As one of the biggest sporting competitions in Australia, the 2018 Australian Championships held on March 3-8, brings together a cross section of participants – paddlers, coaches, officials and volunteers from across the country.

Day 1 boasts the battle of the best paddlers each State and Territory has to offer.

Days 2 and 3 is when the club crew Premier and Junior categories race for gold.

Days 3 and 4 will see Australian club senior crew categories – Australia’s most experienced paddlers – show us how it’s done.

Volunteers Needed

Dragon boat regattas could not run without the invaluable work of volunteers, and we are now seeking your help to volunteer for the 2018 Australian Dragon Boat Championships.

Please note: You are not required to be a member of a dragon boat or any other sporting club, just keen to help and willing to learn. You can volunteer for as many days as you are available, and you do not have to sign up for the full duration of the event/s.

Insurance, Sun Smart uniforms, meals and beverages are supplied throughout the race days. Training is provided prior to the event.

To join the team of amazing volunteers and help make AusChamps Queensland 2018 a memorable experience, fill out the volunteer registration form.
